Trelawny Homecoming is an effort to inspire people from Trelawny and our friends to come to Trelawny to celebrate our common heritage.
We have planned and coordinated authentic activities that strive to connect, and introduce us
to the Jamaican contemporary arts and cultural happenings, all in a relaxed surrounding.
This is also a venture that supports local community organizations.
Bare Essentials, a reggae-rocksteady-ska band that perfected its sound playing the hotel circuit on Jamaica's bustling north coast tourist scene.
The name, Bare Essentials is the refinement of the bare necessities which one member felt summed up the equipment they had when the band first started rehearsing at the Kingston YMCA. Shortly after its formation, the band was contracted to perform at Epiphany nightclub in New Kingston.
The group keeps busy playing at seasonal stints along the North Coast, and at special events throughout the Caribbean and for the Jamaican groups throughout the Diaspora. The ensemble is still popular essentially because it is a dance band.
The Bare Essentials Band repertoire consists of massive crowd-pleasers from post-1970s Jamaican music, sprinkled with a few smart originals, but the emphasis is always on keeping the people moving.

Sly Slick Sound System was formed in Falmouth in March 1973 and needs no introduction in Trelawny, where they are hugely popular.
They played at parties and at the annual Police Ball with Fab Five Band and Byron Lee and the Dragonaires throughout the 1970's. In 1989, Sly Slick was the first "country" Sound to be invited to play at the U.W.I. week-long Carnival held in Kingston Jamaica.
In the 1990's Sly Slick played alongside such sound system heavyweights as Stone Love, Bass Odyssey, Killamanjaro, Black Cat, Body Guard, Silver Hawk among others, with much acclaim.
Sly (Stevie) suffered a disabling stroke in 2010. He has teamed up with long time mate Pugan to launch this inaugural Trelawny Homecoming 2013 event, his first major session since the stroke. This year, part proceeds from the event will benefit Trelawny women football. .
Sly Slick Sound's early mission of delighting party fans is the explanation for their immmense popularity.
